Job Title Senior Accountant

1. Job Purpose
• The purpose of the Senior Accountant’s job is to execute accounting tasks in an efficient and timely manner
2. Principal Accountabilities
• Processes and records subcontractor and supplier bills received from Clients.
• Issues payment requests to the Cash and Banks Unit for maturing accounts payable
• Issues Clients, subcontractors, and supplier statements of account
• Prepares monthly account reconciliation, Monitors company accounting payable system
• Provides support to internal and external auditors
• Reviews and validates Clients’ documents. Approves and post revenue transactions (billings) received
• Supports weekly and monthly financial closing activities and ensures deadlines are met with compliance with all statutory requirements
• Generates project receivables aging report and follows up with Clients’ Financial Controllers on collection
• Resolves collection delays and report to senior management on progress
• Issues client statements of accounts
• Maintain and update the fixed assets register
• Manages the preparation and validation of payroll data and works effectively with the team to ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries and allowances
• Ensures that all data which impacts payroll calculation is obtained from Personnel and integrated in time for the payroll calculation and execution
• Ensures that the Payroll Journal is prepared and communicated on time for execution, with a zero error margin. Maintains the confidentiality of payroll data
• Accountable for the satisfactory resolution of all errors, complaints, or queries raised by employees concerning their paychecks
• Opens bank Accounts for newly hired Employees
• Identifies and tracks payroll KPIs and devises plans and initiatives for improvement
• Provides support for the professional development (including training) of direct reports
3. Communications and Working Relationships
• Reports to and supports the Group Chief Accountant on issues regarding all general ledger accounting activities, and ways for improvement
• Interfaces with the Department Heads for the creation of accounts for new business activities
• Interacts and manages direct reports and operational issues on a daily basis
4. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
• Bachelor in accounting or finance; relevant Master’s degree or CPA is a strong plus
• Minimum 5 years experience in the finance function in a comparably sized operation to O&M Companies
• Strong knowledge of financial theory, concepts, and practices
• Demonstrates a successful track record in Accounting, preferably within a construction company
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent numerical and IT skills
• Fluent in English and preferably Arabic
